Berlinale honours Glauber Rocha with a Special Presentation of fully restored “Antonio das Mortes”

Antonio Das Mortes stands as a landmark in the Brazilian Cinema Novo movement. Glauber Rocha won the Best Director Award in Cannes in 1969 for this lyric-mythic epic, in which he creatively integrates elements of Brazilian popular religious culture, politics, folklore, social history, music, literature, and dance.
In its 40th year, the prestigious Berlinale Forum features a selection of films that capture the mood of the times in a sensitive way. Among them, the organizers programmed a Special Presentation of Glauber Rocha’s fully restored “Antonio das Mortes” (original title: “O Dragão da Maldade contra o Santo Guerreiro”)
As previously announced, Latinofusion has been trusted by the Rocha family to take on international sales duties for the unvaluable collection of Glauber’s “cinema novo” classic works. Among them, five films have been remastered so far and two (”Black God, White Devil” and “Antonio das Mortes”) already have fullly restored prints in 35 mm:
- Black God, White Devil (Deus e o Diabo na Terra do Sol)
- Earth entranced (Terra em Transe)
- The Age of the Earth (A idade da Terra)
- Barravento
- Antonio das Mortes (O Dragão da Maldade contra o Santo Guerreiro)

Once again Latinofusion will attend Berlin’s European Film Market (Feb 11 to 21, 2010) The company stand will be located at booth 115 (Martin Gropius Bau) together with INCA (Argentina’s Film Institute) and IMCINE (Mexican Film Institute).
